The Waterlilies Portrait Project
20 Afghan women refugees + 20 women artists joined together to commemorate the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, 2021, and to raise awareness about the ongoing gender apartheid and human rights violations toward women and girls in Afghanistan. The waterlily is a metaphor for a generation of women who have lost their rights and freedom under the Taliban.
